“Don’t Trade Truth For A Lie”

The war is on! You say, “What war?” The war for Truth. We all embrace a system of beliefs; of a certainty though is that man will cling to a system of beliefs founded in truth or that which is floundering in error and falsehood. Ultimately in the end the greatest battle is waged against Christ (giver of truth) and Satan (father of lies). A pastor noted the words of a great man of the faith, J.C. Ryle, author of – Holiness taken from another work by Ryle concerning Truth:

“You live in a world where your soul is in constant danger. Enemies are around you on every side. Your own heart is deceitful. Bad examples are numerous. Satan is always laboring to lead you astray. Above all, false doctrine and false teachers of every kind abound. This is your great danger. To be safe you must be well armed. You must provide yourself with the weapons God has given you for your help. You must store your mind with Holy Scripture. This is to be well armed. Arm yourself with a thorough knowledge of the written word of God. . . Neglect your Bible and nothing that I know can prevent you from error if a plausible advocate of false teaching shall happen to meet you.” – J.C. Ryle

 You may say why sound so negative? Yes, these are words of admonition and warning against error. Note that we are living in a world offering a buffet of error for all to embrace and call truth when it is not. Apart from clinging to the Truth of God’s Word, we are doomed and destined to fall for falsehood being led astray in the error of our own way. We must allow God’s Word to permeate our lives so much so that when we see that which is error and false we can identify it as such. God’s Word is our foundation of truth. Everything is weighed, tested, and proven in light of Scripture.
